Child labor has become a common sight in Bangladesh. I have noticed that many young children around us are working to earn a living. I feel for them and it pains me to see these working children.

The thought of not being able to do anything for them pains me. I think these young working children are being deprived of their basic rights. They do not get proper food and clothing; they do not live in a hygienic environment, they do not maintain good health.

Rather, they are being deprived of education. Like other children, they are supposed to go to school, but they work in garment factories, or as tempo and bus helpers, and they are even seen collecting garbage.

They are living an inhumane life. I think the government and those concerned should protect their rights and stop their labor. The government should rehabilitate the slum dwellers and create job opportunities to improve their standard of living.

The government should allocate more money for food for educational programs. Those concerned can come forward to help working children. More orphanages should be built for abandoned children.

After doing all this, we can hope that children will enjoy their basic rights and Bangladesh will be free from child labor.
